A handover is the short brief the next worker reads before they start. Good handovers are how care stays consistent across a shift change.
Where you write it
- 1The cleanest place is inside the end of shift completion flow, which prompts you for a handover as part of closing the shift.
- 2There is also a standalone Handover surface in the app if you need to add one outside completion.
What to include
- 1How the participant is right now: mood, health, anything that changed today.
- 2Anything outstanding: a task not finished, a call to make, an appointment coming up.
- 3Safety or behaviour notes the next worker must know before they walk in.
Assume the incoming worker has not seen the participant today. Write what you would want to be told.
The incoming worker is not automatically notified of a new handover yet, so if it is time critical, message them or the office as well.
